So in that moment, we make a choice and our mind begins to link up, have a cigarette feel better. Then one magical day, smoking goes from something we have to remember to do, to something we have to do automatically, every day or we just don’t feel right.
So when did that “magical moment” happen?
It’s kind of like learning to drive a car. At first it’s hard. You have to remember to use the gas, the brakes, blinkers, watch the road, remember all the traffic signals and obey the laws. Then one day, it becomes automatic, you just get in the car and drive. Smoking is kind of like that. One day it just becomes a part of your life and you’re not even sure why you’re doing it anymore.
Then your life becomes consumed with smoking. You have to remember not to run out of cigarettes, make sure you bring your lighter, have a back up lighter. Find places to smoke. Smoking begins to take over your life.
The only way to stop smoking is to just stop and the only reason you’re doing it is because you’re still doing it.
